2009 Season in Reviw
The team made some great steps forward in 2009. The JCC Jaguars were lead by captains Kim McFadden (Olean, NY), Ashleigh Brubaker (Whitesville, NY), Kellyn Hadley (Cattaraugus, NY), and Erica Babbitt (Belfast, NY). These 4 returners made a huge impact on the direction the team was taking on and off the field. They were a great group of leaders, and it made a huge impact on the success that the team had. All 4 of the captains played in the Region 3 All Star Game following the season, and it was great to see them all leave the field laughing.
The Jaguars came together very quickly and started the season 5-0-1, which included a 3 day trip to Philadelphia. It was nice to start off so quickly, but as the season went on, I felt we were improving as we had some tough losses, but seemed to respond well and continued to learn and grow as a team. We played poorly at Mohawk (2nd in the Region at end of the season) and lost, and we played poorly at Jamestown (18th in the Region at the end of the season) and won, but I think it was some of these games that helped us once we made it to the Regional Tournament. We had a pretty clear picture from those 2 games of where we wanted our team to be, and where we didn’t. We spent a good amount of the season with starters injured. I think the only games we had all 18 players healthy was our first game of the season vs Erie, and the 1st Round of playoffs. The players adapted well to the injuries and pushed forward, learning from the wins and the losses. The Jaguars ended the regular season ranked 7th in the 20 team region and was ranked in the top 4, for half the season.
The Jaguars finished the season hosting its first Regional Play off game; the Region 3A Quarterfinals by winning in a PK Sudden Death Shootout 4-3 over Onondaga CC. Carly Olds (Andover, NY), Erica Babbitt (Belfast, NY), Ashleigh Brubaker (Whitesville, NY), and Christina Baldwin (Bolivar-Richburg, NY) all scored goals in the shoot out. After making it to the Regionals the first 2 years of the program, it was nice to see the girls get the win. It was a game that they played for the program, and will go down in Jaguar History. The Jaguars lost 2-0 to the number 1 seed and the 4th ranked team in the nation, Herkimer CC. Herkimer outshot the Jaguars 9-2 in the Region 3A Semifinals.
Freshman Carly Olds (Andover, NY) made history by scoring the first hat trick in our young history, as well as broke the record for points with 37. Carly ended the season ranked 18 in the nation (NJCAA STAT POLL). Goalkeeper Brittany Rounds (Northern Potter, PA) who never played soccer in her life, ended the season ranked 20 in the nation (NJCAA STAT POLL) under the direction of Goal Keeper Coach Dennis Tobolski. The team scored 38 goals, which is currently the most goals the Jaguars have scored in a season. The Jaguars had 10 players score 1 or more goals, and 10 players with 1 or more assists in 2009. The Jaguars scored many of these goals with Freshman forward standout Sydney Yachetta (Falconer, NY) sidelined with injuries for a majority of the season.
The nice thing about this team, is that they put the teams goals ahead of their own. They really cared about the past, present, and future of the Jaguar Program. They took advantage of the opportunity to be a part of the team, and they maximized their experience by the extra effort they put into the season. They liked to dance, and they had fun, and at the same time they knew when it was time to work….. and as a coach, I could not have asked for anything more. They were a great group and it was truly enjoyable for the entire coaching staff.
The future continues to move in a positive direction for the Jaguars Women’s Soccer Team of Olean, NY and it is due to all the players since the beginning who helped to establish this team. With the incoming recruits we have coming here in 2010, and the returners that we have coming back, we can continue to make history with our JCC Jaguar Soccer Family.

The JCC-Olean Jaguars Women’s Soccer Team recently earned a few more academic awards. Heather Pfeiffer (Franklinville HS), Justina Preston (Chautauqua Lake HS), and Sarah Rhinehart (Olean HS) all earned All WNYAC, All Region, and NJCAA All American Awards for academics. Defender, Heather Pfeiffer earned the highest honors, by earning the Distinguished Academic All American Award for having a 4.0 GPA during all 4 semesters at JCC-Olean. Heather also won the WNYAC Academic Female Athlete of the Year, which takes into account all the female athletes, from all the sports in the WNYAC Conference. Coach Ryan Deppa said, “We are so proud of these girls for all the work that they did in the classroom. It really is great to see them be honored for there dedication to earning a degree.”

The JCC Jaguars Women's Soccer Program in Olean, NY have announced that they will hold a FREE Soccer Clinic for girls on Saturday August 8, 2009.
We feel this is a way to give back. So many of the player's have had a chance to play this game, because so many other people volunteered to run leagues, coach teams, and drive to away games.
