I will start my blog with a little introduction.

Name: Joram Mossink

Country: the Netherlands
Education: pre-universital
GPA: 7.8 out of 10
Position(s): P, SS, 2B, 3B
Bats/Throws: R/R
Division: highest division in Senior league age rank.
Ambition: To play NCAA baseball in august 2009, and get higher after that. Until I reached the highest level there is to reach.

I´ve played baseball for eight years now. last year I finally came through to the highest division, before that I was in a trailing club in every division, from third to first (below what I´m playing now).
Last year was a rough start for me, for the first time we played a 42-game season, while I played 16-game season´s before that. 2007, was a hard season, I met pitcher way out of my league, but I could match the average player very well. I even developed to a better player the second half of the season. I made no errors and hit .500 or higher the last half.
Even though we had one of the best teams in the league, we had a hard time winning, we won 8 games, had 4 ties and 30 losses. As a pitcher I had a 0-4 record with 4 saves, 1 hold, and a blown save. Next to that I started 3 games. My season batting average in this leage was .214 and I also played first division big league and hit .600 there. together they came trough for a .240 season batting average. Pretty well for my first season.
This year I established pitching, fielding and hitting. I am a way better player now. I guess last years statistics do not matter anymore, because I know I am going to put way better records on the board this year. I moved to another club, while my last club got thrown out of the division and players moved. The club I am playing with now is not better than my last club, but the team improved socially. This team sticks together in every situation and I guess this will help us win games.

Last week. 9 march our game got cancelled, but we got to play big league division 3 (out of 7 divisions if you count dutch major league with it.), and I had one hit, a steal, a run and a walk on two plate appearances. Next to that I started the game as DH and came in as a reliever in the third inning, I did not struggle on the mound at all as I did last year. My mechanics weren´t as strong as they allways were, because I was cold and we played with wet plastic balls. Besides that, we were only allowed to throw fastball, because curveballs in spring training are forbidden by the coaching staff. Even though, I got through the first inning on a K, a flyout to the first basemen, and a bunt which I picked up and threw to first, throwing only 12 pitches.
The second Inning I struggled on the mound, but I was able to set down the first man of the inning with a strike-out on a 3-2 count and 4 foul balls. The second man got a hit on me (on a 2-2 count), which the third baseman could have had, but he didn´t move at all. The leftfielder gobbled, the ball and the baserunner managed to get a double out of it. The next hitter reached base on an error to short (first pitch). He got a steal, and I was in trouble with a runner on second and third.
I managed to get a strikeout on the fourth hitter (after a 3-2 count and some foul tips). But the next batter I faced reached base on an error by the shortstop on a (1-2) count, getting one runner across the plate. Besides that, he got a steal after I tried to pick him off a couple of times. The sixth hitter got set down quickly with a strikeout after a 3-2 count and several foul tips. I pitched a total of 42 pitches in 2.0 innings. managing to get 4 k´s.
After that I got to play short for one inning getting a nice grounder for an out.
The game ended in a 5-3 score, in our favor.

I knew this wasn´t my best appearance, throwing about 60-70, getting in a lot 3-2 counts in the second inning. I know I can easily throw 75-85 at this moment, and get ahead in the count, but that moment I just struggled, next to that, it was the first game of spring training. I didn´t hear the ball zip through the air either, but I practised the whole week to establish pitching again. The result is the only video on my profile. My control was at it´s height. My curve worked for me, and my change needed some shape. But my next vid will be uploaded soon, next to the clip´s of the last pitches on the 3 strikouts I got in the second inning. My dad didn´t want to film with the rain, but the result can be found on my video page. The video of thursday's practice is hosted on video.google.com, because of quality issues.
