Today, Josh received an invitation to the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase in Ft. Myers, Florida from PG Scouting Coordinator Matt Schemmel.

2011 Prospect (16 y/o) Josh Powe has new personal highs for his max strength totals! Prior to 09/2006, Josh's off-season lifting program was generic and sporadic in nature. Since 09/16/2009, Josh has been on a 3-day weekly program designed for him personally.
This personal lifting program includes a combination of the Core Series foundation building (whey protein) Syntha-6 and Core Series post workout CellMass. In addition, Josh takes a generic one-a-day male vitamin supplement. Josh has seen some incredible size and strength gains!
On 09/16/09 (6'0) Josh weighed 180lbs and had these totals:
Max Squat 285lbs
Flat Bench 225lbs
Incline Bench 175lbs
Power Clean 175lbs
On 11/02/09 (6'0) Josh weighed 190lbs and had these strength totals:
Max Squat 315lbs
Flat Bench 245lbs
Incline Bench 205Lbs
Power Clean 205lbs
The CORE Series supplements have been very beneficial and affordable. Both mixes have been reviewed by the training staff to ensure they are eligibility safe and effective. Also, Josh continues to focus on flexibility and conditioning, including pool training. |

Tonight, Josh was inducted into the Lubbock High School Chapter of the Texas High School National Honor Society. Great job Joshua, we are proud of your commended work in the classroom!

After a solid weekend of showcase baseball, the area HS prospects went back to work at the TTU student athletic complex. Josh had another great night of hitting. It was a good day!!!

Josh participated in the TTU Fall Showcase on Saturday!! Led the way for the "2"'s and dropped several bombs to LF and LCF in front of the right people. Josh graded out very well and had a great time!! Photos are up:

Photos have been added for the Burkburnett Blacksox GM4 vs. Marucci Elite at the Redsox Player Devlopment Center Field #3 (Connie Mack). Marucci Elite is ranked #10 in the nation by PGCrosschecker. Blacksox won 3-2.

The SOX, ranked 52nd in the Nation by PGCrosschecker, finish with a 2-1-1 record in Ft. Myers Florida after a very strong showing in the PG/WWBA Underclass National Championships.
After a (GM1) 6-1 win against the Minnesota Starz, the SOX lost a 2-run lead (GM2) for a 4-4 tie with Orlando REDs and a (GM3) 6-4 loss to the semifinalist #3 Orlando Mustangs. The SOX ended with a 3-2 win over #10 Marucci Elite in their final game. There were a ton of coaches and scouts and the SOX showed well despite several players suffering thru the flu and other ailments.

Josh Powe and the Burkburnett Blacksox 17U win their first pool play game vs. Minnisotta Starz, 6-1. (LBK) Monterey pitcher JR-David Gates pitched 4-innings of no hit ball for the win, with Alpine HS product Peyton Marrett pitching the 5&6 innings in relief. Gates was near untouchable giving 3 walks in the middle innings before slamming the door on the top of the line-up for the Starz, in the 4th.
Gates FB touched the high 86-88mph thru all four innings and he struck out 5 in 4 innings of work.
Josh caught the opener and finished with 2 BB's, 2 runs scored, including the 1st run of the game on a 1st-home baserunning gem, followed by speeding home, from 2nd base, to put the Sox up 3-0 in the 4th.
Josh had three sub 2.0 pop-times and the Starz DID NOT attempt a single stollen base, in 7 innings.
