Sophomore Arizona Fall Classic

I finished playing in the tournament today. Compared to my last pitching appearance last week I did very well. I pitched two innings on Saturday and had good stuff.

My sinker is becoming a pitch I like more and more. I am able to turn the ball over and get a lot of downward movement on it.  The sinker also has alot of inward run on a righty. This is a pitch that gets guys swinging over the top of it or hitting weak groundballs. I'm still trying to get a better feel for my changeup, but its coming along. My CB is getting more of a straight downward turn as I'm learning to get better control of it. This is probably my best pitch now, which I try not to overthrow.

I am going to give my arm a break for November and most of December. I have been pitching and throwing for several years without a break. I have no arm problems at all, but my pitching coach Ryan Henderson has advised me that I should rest my arm and focus on conditioning so I can start the high school season off strong. I will spend this time off working out and increasing my overall body strength.

10/25/2009

I played in the one game we are scheduled to play in as the AZPro 2012 team. It was fun, but I had a better day at bat than I did on the mound. I had 3 ABs and went 1 for 2 with a BB. I also was able to steal two bases.

The coach brought me in for the last inning and it was just one of those kind of days. It felt good when I began throwing, but then I had difficulty finding my groove. I kept throwing the ball high and just didn't seem like I could get on top of the ball. I know all pitchers have tough days, but its never easy to go through it. I know tomorrow is a new day and I will get another chance.

Next week I will be playing in the Sophomore Fall Classic and I look forward to getting back on the mound.
