We just received the schedule today and after Tropical Storm Fay goes away (haha I rhymed) we will work hard at practice our last week until our games. We still do not have our kits in and are praying they come in before the tournament. I will be wearing #3 and playing mainly in the right outside midfield/ and foward positions. Here is our schedule.
August 30th- Ssc 91 Blue vs. Westside Eagles at Earl Johnson Park field #2 at 11:00 a.m.
3:30 p.m. Westside Eagles vs. Norcross Fury Gold 92 at Losco Field #1
August 31st- 11:00 a.m. Columbia Stingers vs. Westside Eagles at Earl Johnson park fied #4
If we win group A we will play in the championship game on August 31st against the group B winner at Patton Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
We expect to do well and hope this will be the beginning of a good season. |

This summer I decided to stay stateside and even stay in Florida all summer. I am in dual enrollment and took English Comp. I this summer to get ahead. Due to a lack of money I was not able to attend many camps but July 14-18th (this week) I am in a Caledonia Elite Soccer Camp. The coaching staff consists of many highly qualified coaches including a youth team coach from the Scottish Premier League and even a semi-pro player from Scotland. The camp is for premier and varsity school team players. I hope we do not get rainied out at all. High school starts in about four weeks for me as does the club season. The Westside Eagles u-19 start practice next week on the 22nd of July and our first tournament is the First Coast Labor Day Shootout. It's an eleven a side tournament in which many teams from around Florida will compete in. So hopefully that should help us be prepared for the rest of our season and show us some competition.

Well Westside Soccer Club held there premier tryouts last week and I decided to try out for the U-18 squad. Well found out today that I made the team along with some other very good players. So I'm very excited right now and hopefully we will see where the team goes in these next couple years, ( I have two years to play with them).

Well we ended our season today with a game 2-1 so kinda happy about that. I had one assist, I took the corner and my CM took a left foot shot past the keeper. Our other goal was from our right back Chad he took a shot from about 45 yds out and it caught the keeper off guard and went in over his head. Their goal was a mistake on our communication, our keeper went out but lost the ball then they passed it back into the middle and into the top corner. It was a good game though, we finished 3-2-3 three wins three draws and two losses. So my season with this team is done but as I said I have tryouts coming up and something interesting happened to me last week. In our game that we won 3-0 I scored off of a free kick about 25 yds out, I bent it over the wall with a bit of pace on it into the top left corner (the kick was from the middle of the field) but the keeper had no chance whatsoever. Well of course I was excited but come to find out a u16 select coach from another local club was there and saw me play and BAM now I'm guest playing for u16 select next week in, the Seminole County Memorial Tournament which is a lil south of Orlando, with this team, so I am really excited. This should hopefully help me to understand what kind of play is expected at higher levels. Hopefully there will be some form of scouts down there maybe just so I could say I got looked at. My lil brother is playing with his u14 select team in the National cup that weekend also and his team is expecting to win it and move on to nationals in Virginia so I hope everything goes well for him.
TOD (tip of the day) When in a game someone does something wrong to you...don't respond to them because it's always the retaliation that is caught and carded.
p.s. I just also added 2 videos of me messing around so check those out and rate 'em

I am currently a Sophomore at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. I am on a honors college prep course with over a 3.7 Gpa. I was just inducted into National Honors Society recently and plan to stay there. I also an dual enrolled through FCCJ (Florida Community College of Jacksonville), I am working on possibly getting my Associate Arts degree by the time i graduate high school in 2010. I also this year decided to run track to stay in shape and be around a great community. Hopefully I can take soccer to a high end collegiate soccer program and then someday stick my foot in the proffesional ranks.

Well I have finally had time to sit down and actually use this site. My names Curtis Gaines I'll be turning 16 June 4th. I've only been playin soccer for two years now but have played four seasons on 3 different teams. My first season was freshman at highschool and there I played on the back line. Second season I decided to play with some friends of mine..at u19 suprisingly I did ok and even got two goals in the season. I took most of the summer off just playin pickup games and practicing. then I played in the fall on u16 rec due to the fact that we did not have enough for a select squad, my dad is the coach but that means I have to work harder to play. Third was the school season again starting mainly as right midfield then due to another player leaving I played the center back posistion the rest of the season playing some very hard fought games. My current season is u16 rec again, once again not having a select team. Well we have two games left and are doing alright considering half of our team has been or is hurt. In a couple weeks I'll be trying out for u18 select and hopefully making it and when the school season starts again I'll be playing there with a state caliber team.

Well the end of the spring season is nigh and tryouts loom ahead. In a couple weeks I'll be trying out for u18 select at Westside Soccer Club. I should do ok. Other than school this will be my first major test of how good I am and can be. I'll only be 16 this summer so I'll have a couple years to play for the squad. Hopefully this will prove to be my shot at college.
