Scout.com has graded David Bell a 2-STAR QB Prospect. Through 9 games, in Live Oak's 1st year in 5A, playing virtually every game in wet/raining conditions with wet balls, total yardage produced is nearly 2,000 (1,500 passing) with 15 TD's produced.
The video devoted to David Bell from the Baton Rouge NUC Combine has been posted on Youtube for a few months under "David Bell National Underclassmen." Last week the highlight video from the Ultimate 100 Regonal Camp in Indy was posted on YouTube by Rivals/NUC, entitled "The next Joe Flacco - David Bell NUC" or something similiar. Rivals/NUC has also said they will post a video of David Bell highlights from the National Rivals 100 Top Prospect Camp, held in Norman OK back in June, very soon.
Of note in the videos, is that timing early on in these camps is very difficult, based on speed differences, etc. By late the first day though, you get on a roll with the receivers you get use to working with.
Highlights from the videos will be posted on beRecruited with the consent on NUC/Rivals.
EAST ASCENSION 14, LIVE OAK 8: All the off-season work at EA included a transition from the spread offense Lambert ran in his first two seasons to the veer he installed before the third.Avery Williams must be sold. The powerful senior running back twice exploded out of his three-point stance for long scores, breaking several tackles each time. His first TD came on EA’s first possession and covered 57 yards. His second capped a go-ahead drive in which Lambert called seven straight running plays. In bursting 26 yards on his final carry of the night, Williams, who finished with 94 yards, helped EA answer Live Oak’s late awakening.Still, the Eagles who started at their own 37 with 1:40 left, moved all the way to the EA 18 on their final possession before time ran out.“In a game where the outcome doesn’t count, you want to have your team in a position where they must adjust to as many situations that can come along,” Lambert said. “That’s hard sometimes when you’re talking about two 12-minute halves.”Live Oak quarterback David Bell provided Lambert what he sought — some adversity — as the senior, a victim of several dropped balls in the first half, completed six straight passes at one point late and twice connected on fourth down. With about five minutes left, Bell found Alex Switzer for an over-the-top, 24-yard score. Another Bell-to-Switzer hookup followed on the 2-point try. EA answered.
Worked through the Combine in Baton Rouge (52 national combines). Then worked through the Regional Ultimate 100 Camp in Indianapolis (5 regional camps for invitees only). Now invited to participate in the Rivals Final National Top 100 Prospect Camp at the Univ. of Oklahoma in Norman this weeked, July 25th and 26th. 100 SR's are invited, including 15 QB's. NUC is posting videos of performances on You Tube and they will be on BeRecruited too. Good luck to everybody else invited. A two day camp gives enough time for a good look. No more measurables tested, just 7 on 7's and a lot of reading, throwing and football skills work!
The annual Ragin’Cajun prospect camp took place Sunday afternoon with over 250 high school athletes in attendance. Several athletes attended the came with offers in hand from the Cajuns and the staff were looking at a number of athletes for possible future offers.
Hardcore Cajun football fans look forward to this time of year as high school athletes come out to the Leon Moncla Indoor practice facility to participate in the annual prospect camp. A number of athletes attended the camp from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama, hoping to get noticed by the Cajun coaching staff.
One of the names familiar to Cajun fans is New Iberia Catholic quarterback Taylor Bullock. The 6-3, 205-pound Bullock came to camp with the only offer from the Cajuns at the quarterback position. Taylor is also holding offers from Tulane, Louisiana Tech, with Rice and SMU rumored to be close to make offers. Bullock wasn’t the only quarterback that Coach Munoz was watching closely, as Alabama Gulf Shores’ Logan Paul and Live Oaks David Bell also received close attention during the camp.
The 6-1, 185-pound Logan Paul’s 2008 season stats were very impressive, passing for 2,480 yards with 20 touchdowns; 360 rushing yards with six touchdowns. Paul ran a 4.7 forty and is a quarterback the Cajun coaching staff will keep a close eye on during the fall.
David Bell is a 6-2, 205-pound quarterback out of Watson Live Oaks High School. In 2008, Bell completed 85 of 163 passes for 1,078 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Live Oaks QB David Bell didn’t put up huge numbers in a run oriented offense, but he has all the intangibles of a solid Division I prospect.
David Bell has caught the eyes of several quarterback coaches at football camps this summer. The “6-2”, 205-pound Bell has the size and arm that many college quarterback coaches are looking for in a prospect. David has made the rounds to camps at Arkansas State, Mississippi State,Louisiana, Southeastern Louisiana, Ouachita Baptist and Elite 11 camp in Las Vegas. Bell attended Louisiana’s Ragin’Cajun Prospect Camp of June 6th and followed up with a stop at ArkansasState.
“I wanted to attend camps at programs that I’m interested in,” said Bell. “We sent out video to around fifty schools and as I attended the camps the coaches want to see more video. I’m thinking about possibly playing out of state, but UL is a program I’m interested in.”
Bell performed well enough in the passing drills that he was one of three quarterbacks asked to remain after camp to workout with quarterback coach Jorge Munoz.
“Coach Munoz asked several of us to stay after camp and work with a few wide receivers outside,” David stated. “I thought I threw the ball well in the seven-on-seven drills and the individual drill with the wide receivers. Coach Munoz said he would stay in touch and wanted to look at some game video from the first few games this season.”
David Bell was also happy with his performance at ArkansasState and the interest he received from the staff after camp.
“I really enjoyed the ArkansasState camp,” said Bell. “After camp, I sat down with Coach Harris and watched film of their offense. Coach Harris has called me every week since the camp and continues to express their interest in me as a recruit.”
David also expressed his excitement in attending the Elite 11 camp in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It was a great opportunity to go out there and compete against some of the best athletes in the country,” David exclaimed. “I enjoyed competing and comparing myself to some of the athletes, it was a great experience.”
The UAB coaching staff hosted three prospect camps earlier this month evaluating players in Birmingham, Daphne and Dothan. BlazerSportsReport.com covered the camps and mentioned several players who stood out at the three camps. Not every athlete that performed well at the camps was mentioned. Several other prospects will be evaluated during the season and at that point the coaches will decide who they will continue to pursue. Here are a few other names the Blazer coaches will be watching in the fall.
David Bell, 6-3, 213-pound quarterback from Watson, Louisiana had possibly the most live arm at the camp in Birmingham. He was very impressive throwing the ball.
The 6-4, 191 pound quarterback Jordan Patterson from Baker High in Mobile turned heads in Daphne with his performance.
Rashad Jackson, 6-1, 199-pound quarterback from Westover High put in a solid performance in Dothan.
A trio of running backs drew attention in the Birmingham camp. Chris Cain, 5-10, 173-pounds from Athens High was as impressive in person as he is on film. Cain also lines up at wide receiver for Athens.
Darion Smith of Spain Park High put in a good camp performance. The 5-8, 180-pound local product got the coaches talking with a solid showing, as did Jesse Teal a 6-0, 178 pound back from Guntersville High.
There were also a couple of running backs in the Dothan camp who were very impressive. Brandon Knight, 5-11, 205-pound back from Dothan High and Northview High's Derrick Thomas, 6-0, 185 will both be evaluated further in the fall and either could receive an offer from the staff.
Will Golston was one of the most impressive performers of the June camp period. The 6-1, 182 pound wide receiver out of Murphy High is fast and runs good patterns – he is definitely on the coach's radar. D' Areiel Franklin, 6-1, 183-pound wide receiver from St. Clair County High had a good day in Birmingham as did 6-1, 169 pound Danzel Waters of Jeff Davis High in Montgomery.
Terrance Evans ran an impressive 40 in Dothan. The 6-0, 185 pound speedster is from Liberty County High. Khary Franklin of Lowndes County High in Georgia also attended the Dothan camp but was unable to participate due to an injury. He is being closely watched by the Blazer staff.
In Daphne, the staff paid close attention to the play of a couple of tight ends - Demetrius Coley, 6-0, 224 pounds from Baldwin County High and Ryan Onkka, 6-3, 217 from Washington High. The Dothan camp saw a couple of solid performers who could play linebacker or tight end.
Justin Tukes of Worth County High could play either of those two positions or defensive end. Byron Robinson of East Gadsden High was another top performer in Dothan.
Big Marcus Howton of West Florida High was an impressive offensive line performer at Daphne. The 6-1, 332 pounder made an impression on the staff - as did Satusuma's 6-1, 276 pound Clay Squires. Justin Browning a 6-2, 280 pound guard from Valdosta High was very sound in Dothan.
Two other guards stood out at camp as well, Charles Emert 6-2, 260 from Statesboro and Dalton Brunson, 6-1, 292 from Ashford High. Northview High's 6-4, 285 pound tackle Preston Hatcher also looked very good in camp as did Clifton Sellers, 6-1, 285 pound tackle from Enterprise High.
On the defensive side of the ball there were several camp standouts in Dothan and Mobile who have gone unmentioned – to this point.
Jaron Bush, 6-0, 293 pound defensive tackle was one of the noteworthy performers in Daphne. Isaac Tunstall, 6-0, 264 pound Northview High tackle looked good as did Sherrod Loud, 6-0, 284 pounder from Worth County High who was one of the top performers in Dothan.
Camden County High defensive end Derrick Saulsberry was another standout in Dothan. The 6-1, 211 pound defender was looked very impressive at the camp.
Several linebackers stood out in both Mobile and Dothan among them were; McKinley Greer, 5-10, 202 pounder from Dothan High, Caleb Heard, 6-1, 198 pounds from Thomas County Central, Marques Lewis, 6-0, 216 pounds from East Gadsden High and 6-0, 191 pound Chris Shiver also of Thomas County Central all made strong impressions in Dothan.
In the Mobile camp Christopher Hughes, 6-0, 210 pounder from Milton High joined Brandon Savage, 6-1, 225 pound Baldwin County standout and John David Swiger, 6-1, 193 pound Gulf Shores star in turning in impressive performances.
Fredie King, 6-2, 195 pounder worked out at quarterback – but the staff thinks his future will be at safety. He has been invited to the Blazers July camp to work with the DB's. Desmond Warren also 6-2, 195 pound defensive back from Houston County High was another impressive performer. Daniel Foxwell, 6-0, 161 pound db from Florida High was another strong performer.
