Go Lady Rams!

2009 5A STATE CHAMPIONS AHSAA

~Let me start off by saying how proud, honored, and thankful for being on the 2009 Faith Academy varsity volleyball team.

-We worked so so hard for this!  This was a 100% team accoplishment, and wouldn't of been done any other way!

-I love all of you so so much!

*We relaxed, had confidence in ourselves, we ate right, studied our film, practiced hard, stayed focused, got done what we neede to get done, and new we were going to fight no matter what!!!...and gave thanks and praise to God!

The Newspaper read:

Five times Faith Academy had played Mobile rival St. Paul's coming into the Class 5A volleyball state championship on Thursday.

Five times defending class champion St. Paul's walked away the winner.

Not today.

In only their second year of AHSAA play, the underdog Rams shocked the Saints with a ferocious net game on the way to a 25-21, 27-29, 25-22, 25-12 victory.

"This time, they had the look of determination, passion and confidence," said Faith coach Jessica Rapier, who also guided the Rams to an AISA state title in 2007 "You could see it in every one of their eyes."

After studying the previous matches - "film, after film, after film, even during class, Rapier said," --  The Rams (39-15) made changes to their attack.

    *Faith Academy Lady Rams

Class 5A

AHSAA

State Champions!!!!!*

We dominated the court Today...

We played our hearts out, never gave up, did our best, and came out on top!

~Thursday the paper read:

But fourth-ranked Faith Academy crashed the party and set-up an all-Mobile final today at 10:30 a.m. with a 25-20, 25-13, 12-25, 25-21 semifinal win over the third-ranked Lions in the AHSAA Elite Eight Wednesday.

Faith Academy's Rebekah Reeves spikes the ball as Briarwood's Elizabeth Reiser tries to defend Wednesday during a Class 5A semifinal match in Pelham. Faith won to advance to play St. Paul's today.

"I think we played with more confidence at that point," said Rams junior hitter Rebekah Reeves, who finished with 12 kills. "We told ourselves to relax and we started playing with confidence."

"Our goal is to knock the other teams out of their system from point one to point 25," said Rams coach Jessica Rapier, whose 39-15 team will try to stop the top-ranked Saints (39-12) from winning a fourth straight 5A state title today.

St. Paul's topped No. 2 Hartselle 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 in the other semifinal.

Faith turned an 11-6 first-game deficit into a 2-0 game advantage by scoring 44 of the next 60 points.

Jamie Hall added 12 kills for Faith, while Jessica Hall had 11. Chelsea Cummings had 33 assists and Jessica Scarpa had 14 digs.

...This was the paper after advancing to the championship match...

*Tommorrow I will update my blog with 2009 STATE CHAMPS news paper add.

The Faith Academy Lady Rams came out 2nd in the Area Tounament Saturday.

-Our first match we swept Gulf Shores High in three sets.
-Then we took Eufala in three also, advancing us to the championship match against Saint Pauls (State Champians 5A).
-We faught hard but didn't play our game and lost.  I believe we lost our focuse in the 2nd game.  We had them beet the first game but collapsed between the last few points and Saint Pauls took over.

~Both teams advanced to substate.

*Faith Academy holds substate this year as we are placed in the 2nd seat.

<We are readying ourselves to play Thursday, then our goal is to advance to state!>
