Wow, sorry for the huge gap in time there.
At the end of the season, my Oakland team (Midget 16A) went to Anaheim for a tournament. We swept all five games and were very happy to have the championship trophy.
Then after the season, we did one more tournament down south. Almost the same scenario... instead, though, we did tie one game. And the championship game was pretty wild... a come from behind for us and then it ended in a tie... which led to a shoot-out (my favorite!). We won another championship trophy.
The previous night to the championship game was the skills competition. I got the trophy for best Midget 16 goalie.
I'm going to miss that team but some are aging out and others are going to different rinks. So... I guess that's it for me and Oakland. It was a fun six years. Thanks!
Went to the Vacaville Jets 16AA tryouts. Those were my first tier tryouts. We could never afford tier before but my mom understands that now that I'm 16 it's sort of a make-or-break situation for me. I couldn't do the San Jose AAA or AA tryouts because I was up in Canada.
I've accepted the position with the Jets and I look forward to a fun and challenging season.
Even though I got a call-back after doing the Junior A tryouts in Roseville, I am afraid that since we still in Oakland and Roseville is a two-hour drive away I'd be missing too much school. I hope to try with them again next year.
I've been doing some goalie teaching (a Squirt goalie). Teaching isn't as easy as it looks. Then again, learning to be a goalie also isn't as easy as it looks.
Well, I'd better go for now. Just wanted to touch base. |

Actually, yesterday was the last day. The tests were easy. But I can't wait until next year when I can take the SATs so I have some scores to post in places like this website.
Was looking over some of the choices for direction in an Engineering career. There are a lot to choose from. Unless my mind is working, I seem to get bored so I'll need to pick a field that challenges me. I like figuring things out. Mom gives me a lot of lectures about making sure we (my sister and I) do something for a living that makes us happy.
This weekend's hockey includes camp in Sacramento, then coaching the new goalie back in Oakland. Because of the camp, I'll be missing our Midget scrimmage, but that's life.
Next week we'll be doing the car wash to raise money for our Anaheim tournament.
There are some goalie camps I wanted to go to this summer but we don't have the funds. Maybe I can pick up some more work after school lets out in June. |

At camp this past Saturday, the coaches were talking about getting some videotape of me so we/they can send it off to recruiters (as well as post it here).
I don't know how to make one of these but the coaches seem to know what they're doing.
In the meantime, I'll see if I can check out some other goalies' recruiting videos.

I've got between ten and twenty on my list so far.
Right now, I'm only picking places with Division i hockey. I realize that's probably a long-shot, especially considering our financial situation, but I believe in shooting for the top.
Had a fun weekend on the ice. Looking forward to trying out for the Sacramento Junior A team next month. After that, our Midget 16's have a tournament in Anaheim.
Got the results of the mandatory California Exit Exam test we took a while back. You need 350 to pass. 450 is the highest score you can get. I got 450 in all subjects.
I'm doing some on-ice goalie coaching and I'm considering adding some math tutoring on the side, too. My sister and I are always in need of goalie equipment and money for camps.

It's overwhelming and frustrating at the same time. I thought it would be easier to find schools with Division I hockey where I can also major in Architectural Engineering. Maybe I just need to find a different way to go about this. I'll head over to Barnes & Noble this week and pick up that big book of colleges. Looking online hasn't been the best for me yet.
