-- SURE THING: Eastern Alamance's junior tight end Dylan Hair has established himself as a reliable option in the improving Eagles' offense.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Hair has caught 11 passes for 108 yards this season including a 3-catch, 34-yard effort against Cedar Ridge.

``Dylan has been a pleasant surprise for us,'' Kirby said. ``He catches the ball, he blocks well. He's been a little bit of here and there.''

He provided one of the season's best moments for the Eagles, catching a 13-yard touchdown pass in the season-opening victory against Western Alamance in which he executed a spin move that shook a would-be tackler.

``He's just an old high school boy that wants to play some football,'' Kirby said.

MEBANE — Eastern Alamance tight end Dylan Hair jumped to snag a pass from quarterback Lamar Ivey and came down, bracing himself for what was sure to be vicious lick by the Western Alamance defense.

The shot came, but Hair stayed upright while two would-be Warriors tacklers applied a bone-rattling hit.

“I was surprised at first, because two dudes, that’s an automatic, you’re down,” Hair said. “Once I saw daylight, I saw the pylons and ran for my life.”

Hair’s 42-yard touchdown reception was emblematic of a hard-won 21-3 Eastern Alamance victory against the visiting Warriors on Friday night.
