DAVIDSON 58, MCGILL-TOOLEN 54: Cornel Knight scored 17 points and Reginald Jones 15 for Davidson. Kevin Jefferson scored 12 points and Willie Malone 10 for the Yellow Jackets (1-2), who host the McGill-Toolen Tipoff Classic Friday.
Darius O'Cain scored 7 points, including a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line. O'Cain also had 5 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Darius grabbed a rebound and completed a 3-point play with 46.3 seconds left in the game to give the Warriors the lead. Davidson plays host to Williamson Sat. at 7:30 pm. |

Mobile Press Register article. Sunday, November 1 2009 Davidson’s Delvin Powell enters his second season as a varsity coach with a team filled with experience. The top scorer (Reginald Jones, 15.2 ppg), leading rebounder (Cody McAboy, 7 rpg) and top shot-blocker (Darius O’Cain, 3 bpg) return this season. In total, the roster includes seven seniors and a junior who have extensive playing experience, including 6-foot-4 O’Cain and 6-foot-3 Jabrian Niles. “Last year, we had only two players on the team that actually had varsity experience.” Powell said. This year we have eight returning players. …”These guys played a substantial amount of minutes on the varsity level and they understand our system and their role on the team.”
The Davidson Warriors open their 2009 - 2010 season Wednesday November 11th at McGill Toolen Catholic Highschool. |
