I played in the Semiahmoo Jr. Open with jubilant expectations but instead ended in a dismal kind of way. I found myself stuck in dreadlock traffic at the US Border between Cloverdale and Blaine (WA) for 2 hours and 10mins. at 6:30 am. I was schedule to play at 8:30am but was unable to arrive on time for my tee time because of the border wait. I ended up arrivng at Semiahmoo at 9:15am. Unfortunately it only got worse from there where the organizer said I was late for my tee time and I was assessed a 2 stroke penalty but also disqualified or DQ for missing my time. NOW hold up if you're late for your tee time aren't you already going to miss it? According to the USGA Rules it is up to the Committee to decide whether the individual is DQ or not.
On the bright side I was able to play. I was playing for nothing and bascially playing because I love to compete in golf. I finished the tournament shooting 72-75 and really wondering if the border wait could have been shorter. Next time I guess I will just have to be there 3 or even 4 hours before to ensure that I am safe for my tee time.

68-75 (143) this is the score that got me the T5 place out of 40 players in Oklahoma. This past weekend I played in a OJGT tournament by the name of Lincoln "Beast of the East" Classic. I shot 68-75 and placed T5 and missed out winning the tournament by 4 shots. I am happy to have a top 5 finish in this tournament and for the first time being able to break 70 in the first round! I played very well on the first day making little or no mistakes except for one par 3 where I made a double bogey. However I backed it up with an eagle and a birdie in the next few holes. In my next round I had 8 putts for birdie under 10 feet and was unable to convert any. What hurts the most is having 3 putts under 5 feet and missing them. My lone highlight that day was making an eagle on the same hole the day before the par 5 15th 485 yards dog leg left downhill half of the way. My expectation flying down to Oklahoma was to win or have a top 5 finish well I didn't win but I certainly came out with a top 5 finish. I am also happy because this is a new career low for me after 36 holes in a tournament. Hopefully next time I can break the 140 mark; who knows.

 | Labor Day Weekend |

Labor Day Weekend was a fun 3 days for me where I played in the Bellingham Amateur! It was probably my best tournament where my driver was a reliable club in all 3 days. My putting on the other hand could have been greatly improved. I played at a course whose rating was 71.5 and slope 127 and played 6600 yards. I shot 76-76-76 and I was in the 1st of 3 divisions and placed 16th out of 24 players. I placed so high in my division because I was competing against scratch and university golfers. Unfortunately I was unable to make a top ten in this event because of my score. I will take this as a sentiment to improve my game with the thought of thinking more about course management and hopefully sinking more putts.
As for September I will pay a visit to my golf coach and sort out a few querks and upgrade some of my clubs. I will also play in 2-3 more tournaments this month. I hope to play 2 in the states and 1 locally. |

I had a tremendous finish in stroke play in the PNGA Junior Boy's Amateur. I shot 74-70 and placed T7th out of 140 players with the course rating being 72.3 and slope of 134 and 6400 yards. I played well enough to qualify for the Championship Flight of the top 32 players. I was the top B.C. player to make the Championship Flight. On the third day with all the 13 flights made there was match play. Unfortunately I was not successful in that aspect because I lost my match. I am happy with my stroke play result because I played really well both days and my top ten finish.

| This past weekend I played in the PGA Junior Series Elmcrest CC Tournament. I shot 72-73 (par 70) and placed T6th out of 75 players. The course rating was 70.4 and the slope was 126. It was also the home course of Masters Champion Zach Johnson! It was an incredible experience to witness his hall of fame and tribute to him. I also greatly enjoyed competing against stiff opponents at Elmcrest CC. I was off the lead by 5 strokes so I really played well in this tournament. I always love to compete against the best players and this past week I had the opportunity not only to compete against them but also win. I hope to carry my success towards my next tournament this weekend in a 3 day Men's Amateur at Rivershore Golf Links. |

Last weekend I played in my annual Junior Club Championship at my home course. There were 3 flights championship, second and third; I was in the championship flight. I shot 74-77 and was tied at the end of the 2 rounds with another competitor. I was forced to play a sudden death playoff. The first 3 holes were halved with birdies while the next 3 were halved with pars. Except for the last hole where I won outright and won with a par while my opponent made a bogey. I made to make a clutch 5 footer downhill for birdie on the 1st hole to halve. I chipped in on the 3rd to halve a birdie. And, my 2-putt win on the last clinched my victory. There was approximately 30 players in the championship flight. I am so happy to have won the Junior Club Championship because I was starting to feel my game come around just at the right time. |

| This past week I played a prestigious 3 day tournament at PSU in the PGA Junior Series. I shot 75-76-75 on 7200 yard with a 75.2 course rating and a 138 slope. I placed 15th out of a 80 players. It was a strong field competing this past week because there were a few players who finished under par. I really only had one or two bad holes every round but managed to balance it out with birdies. It was very hot during the tournament with the temperature rising near 90-95 degrees. I am grateful to have played 3 rounds consistently in this tournament. |

| This weekend I am playing in a championship tournament for 3 days! This event is open to amateurs and professional golfers with a field limit of 130. This is a bit of a prestigious tournament because the majority of the winners of this event have gone on to play on the Canadian Tour or other professional tours. I was lucky to get in this tournament because even though this is a local tournament in my area it does have a handicap limit factor. I was able to secure a spot with my cap. This is a 3 day tournament with a compliment practice round included. This is going to be my first 3 day tournament in a little over a month. So, I am very excited to play in this tournament because I am always looking to play in as many tournaments as possible to improve in competition. I hope I can sustain consistency and play well throughout the 3 days. |

 | Golf Qualifiers |

This week is going to be one of the toughest yet this season! I have 3 qualifiers this week. Each of these qualifiers consists of a cut that happens after each day. 2 of these qualifiers are for the BC Junior Championship. The other qualifier is for the BC Amateur. In these qualifiers the cut line is usually 76 but sometimes if there are a lot of low scores the cut line may come down 1 or 2 strokes. I am playing my first qualifier today at Riverway GC. There are about 60 golfers playing and about 40 usually make the cut on to the next day. The next qualifier happens to be tomorrow at Beach Grove GC where the cut is about the same but this time the field must be reduced to 20-25 players. There is a second cut because all of the juniors from all the 8 zones. For the BC Amateur qualifier on Saturday there is about 100 players and the cut depends on the amount of the top 50 players. My goal is to get threw all of the qualifiers. I want to do this by taking one hole at a time. |

| This past Monday my school played in its first ever provincials (state) championships! I played in Nelson, BC on a very undulated course that had rare flat lies. I played decently in the tournament. I shot a 72 (par 72) in my practice round and in the tournament rounds I shot 75 and 76. On both days I made a couple of bad mistakes. I had a couple double bogeys on the first day and 3 careless bogeys due to bad tee shots. On the good side of playing I managed to birdie 3 times both days. Don't get me wrong some of the bogeys I made besides my mistakes were miraculous and sometimes I deserved on the tournament days. In the end I finished the tournament with the lowest score out of my school. |
