7-11-09We only got in 3 games due to rain. We finished 1-2. The first game was a 16-10 loss to “Cause” baseball. We were up 10-6 in the 5th inning and then the throwing errors gave the game away. They had 12 unearned runs, I feel we should have won that game, it just was one of those games where the errors became contagious, next thing we know they score 12 unearned runs. I was 1 for 2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch and 2 runs scored 1 stolen base.          The second game then became a must win if we were going to be in the finals. In our bracket you have 4 teams and we all played each other 1 time and the best record moved on to the finals. I was going to pitch in the late game on Friday but was moved up to pitch the second game Friday morning. I went 8 innings with 0 earned runs 4 K’s and 4 walks and picked up the win with the final score 5-2. I had my first game with no hits in tournament play going 0 for 5. I would give up my hits for a win any day. To move on to the the final rounds it is way more important than having a 5 for 5 day. I felt really good and my change up and curve was working great. We were tied 2-2 going into the 7 inning and we scored 3 in the 8th and I struck out 2 to end the game.          Going into the 3 rd game we were in the position to win and go into the finals. It was 7-4 in the 5thinning and the throwing errors came back and again cost us the game, the final was 10-4 for the Illinois Reds. Our consulation game on Saturday was cancelled due to rain.I was 2 for 2 in the 3rd game but again I would give that up for a win, I think we will do very well in the Delaware Rally Cap Classic in August.I was 3 for 9 with 1 walk, I was hit by a pitch, 1 stolen base, 2 runs scored.Back to the batting cage!

Buckeye elite showcase tournament

7-8-09 I arrived in Ohio for the Buckeye Elite Showcase tournament today. I was in the invitation showcase today @ 2pm with 102 other payers from this weekend’s tournament.I will get the results back from the showcase in a few weeks and will update when I get them. I thought it went very well, I was 17th out of 102 in the 60 yard dash! I was very happy with my performance as the showcase advertises it has the top players in the Mid-West and 2/3’s were seniors and I am still 15 years old.The infield and outfield drills were ok, I always feel I can do better no matter how I do.I felt well about the hitting, it was the first time I hit live pitching at a showcase and with all the coaches and scouts there it was really exciting first and second a little nerve racking, But I like to perform in from of people and after the first swing or 2 I was feeling great. I’m looking forward to getting the results back from the Beast of the East showcase to compare.I’m here in the 15u bracket and the team is the “CNY Thunder – Stars” I’m #5.Our first game is Thursday at 3:30. I will be pitching Friday night’s game due the past weekend of pitching 2 games in one day.I will update after the first few games.

Beast of the East final post

Wow! Was this a great weekend of baseball. We started out 2-0 and then lost 4 in a row, and finished second in our bracket after pulling off 2 wins in the last day.

4-5 was the final record but we beat the 3rd and 2nd seed team on the last day of the winner’s bracket and lost to the #1 seed in the finals of our bracket.

I started the first game and we opened out to an 11 to 2 lead so I was pulled after the 2nd inning to save me for the second game. I picked up the win in the first game and then started the second game. I went 4 innings in that game and picked up the win in that game also! I have never picked up 2 wins as a pitcher in one day. We as a team really picked up the hits for the last day.

Here is what I was able to do for the tournament: 15 for 27 = .555 average.

                                                                                        22 for 35 = .629 OBP.

                                                                                       Walks – 6

                                                                                        Doubles- 5

                                                                                       RBI’s – 6

                                                                                        Steals- 7

                                                                                       Runs scored – 13

We were able to bring the club “CNY Thunder” home its first trophy with our last day finish.

I leave Wednesday 7-8-09 for the Ohio Buckeye baseball Elite showcase tournament. I will update when I get there for the 2pm showcase.

Beast of the East part 2

7-3-09 Day 3 in the Beast of the East tournament.

Well we started with a bang and the last 2 games have not been so good for the team, we lost the last 2 games and we are 2-2.

The bright spot for me is in the last 2 games I’m 3 for 5 with 2 walks, 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s, 4 runs scored.

So far I’m 6 for 12 for the tournament.

We have a 1 pm and a 6pm game 7-4-09 I will update after the games.

Beast of the East Tournament

7-1-09 I arrived in West Virginia for the Beast of the East tournament and the player showcase.

I was in the 1PM showcase and thought it went very well.

The 60 yard run went well and the sports fit strength test was great, I feel I did very well and will get he official results in early August.

Some of the tests that I participated in I was able to hear my results right there, the grip test was 123lbs and I threw the medicine ball 51 feet. The “pro shuttle” I ran in 4.36 I thought that went really well..

I was the starting pitcher in our first game, and it was raining really hard but I was able to work thru the game and went 6 innings and picked up the win 6-2.

The line was this: 6 innings, 2 k’s, 4 walks, 5 hits 2 ER. Not my best but it was raining so hard and I used mainly my fastball and only threw a few off-speed pitches and was able to maintain even with out my best stuff and the rain.

In the second game I started at 2nd and in the 2 games I was 3 for 7 (singles) with 1 walk / 1 run scored.

We won both games so we are sitting 2-0 !

I will update more as we go.

Team USA/Jr.Olympics East tournament

Posted By: Alexander Stacy on 2009-06-27 21:55:07 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (0)

I was playing in the Team USA/Jr Olympics EAST Tournament this past week in Jupiter, FL. I arrived Friday, 6-19-09, and met my team for the first time. I was asked to be on this team for this tournament. I was excited about playing against some of the best players in the East, We heard that in the West Bryce Harper was playing and I was excited to see and face players of the same ability.
In the first 4 games of my 7, I faced some of the best pitching I have seen. I'm happy to say that I held my own and was 6 for 13 for the week, with 1 walk and got hit 2 times by pitches and had 2 stolen bases. I faced a 17 year old in my second game that was throwing 94 with movement. I was able to get a solid hit up the middle and then steal second. In the 3rd game I had a HR over the LF fence. I had 2 solid outings pitching as well.
I hope that I get this opportunity again next year to play in this tournament.
I leave this Wednesday for The Beast Of The East tournament in West Virginia. I will be attending the 1 PM showcase. I will be playing for the CNY Thunder-Stars.
