| The first game of the season was this last Thursday at Cistercian. The first thing I have to say about their field is that there were way too many mosquitos. The second thing is we lost 3-0, but before you jump to conclusions I should probably give you a little background on our team from last year. Last year we made it to the final 8 in playoffs, and unfortunately we lost 12 seniors, 8 of them were our starting players, and even then we lost to Cistercian 8-0. This year we lost only 3-0. Because we are missing 8 starters you can imagine the gaps we had to fill in. The first goal was scored by our sweeper playing out of position, so their forward go past and my sweeper left me, shall we say, "naked" in the field. He passed it to the other forward, and he attempted to shoot it but he mishandled it, and it spun to one of his teammates and he shot in and I was facing the first forward expecting the shot to come from him, but I got twisted around and the ball went in. The second goal was a clean hard shot made by one of their midfielders. Can't complain about that, but the third goal was kind of a mishap. It was at the very end of the second half, a midfielder shot the ball I dove and blocked it and it bounced off of the back of someone's head and it bounced to the other side of the goal and it bounced of one of Cistercian's players face and went in. On the up side I blocked 42 out of 45 shots on goal. Also one of the things I am known for is being aggressive. I am known for slide tackling people so that they will flip over me and for catching the ball when they attempt to cross the ball. Well during this game I reminded them that I am just as aggressive. The first guy came in with the ball and I came in and he hit me so that he flipped over me almost into the goal. The last two slide tackles happened to the same kid. The first time I slide tackled him he flipped over me and crumpled up into the fetal position. I kicked the ball out and tried to help him up but he got up and said "F*$% you" and jogged by. On one of the next plays one of their own tried to shoot it from midfield and it slowly rolled into the 16 yard box. So I picked it up and the same kid that cursed at me ran at me and tried to knock me over, but people soon learn to put a late hit on me. I jammed by elbow into his crotch and flipped him over my head. All of a sudden he wasn't so eager to hit me. hmmm...wonder why. Well thank you for reading and I will update you on my next game which is this Thursday against Fort Worth Southwest Christian. |

| I've just noticed that berecruited.com had a application for a blog. As we all know Spring is the time for rain. Apparently Fall didn't get the memo. So when we were able to play two games on Sunday two weeks ago, I was a little excited when I had my first glimpse of the sun in about 3 weeks. We lost both games, I'm just going to flat out say it. I played shortstop and I made several routine ground balls. One of these ground balls rolled toward second. I fielded the ball, touched second and threw the ball to first to make a double play. It happened so fast that it felt like it was the sloppiest play I had ever made, and when I had thrown the ball it was a submarine. As far as hitting goes, I had a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Fun fact: I have been hit every single game this fall. Now here is when we get cooking. I was the starting pitcher for game two. I struck out 5, walked 1 all in 5 innings. What seemed to get people was the curve ball. No one could hit it or even foul it off. Everyone watched the change up, because it has the appearance of a knuckle ball, but it curves down and it is extremely slow. After ending on a strike out. I was moved to shortstop. The guy who was supposed to pitch after me had showed up during the middle of the 5th inning of the second game and had decided to leave. So we were stuck with putting in our back up catcher to pitch. As you can imagine...that didn't turn out so well. Immediately he walked a few and we lost our 2-0 lead. I made two of the three plays to get out of that inning. A throw to second, and a pop-up to shortstop. As far as batting goes, I walked twice and I got hit, and try this on for size. I got hit in the neck. So please don't say "It feels good, rub some dirt on it, or don't rub it". Its not pleasant. As I said earlier we lost both games, but as far as pitching goes, it was a very successful day for me. Thank you for reading and I will post another blog when mother nature decides to let us see light of day again. |
