Looking forward to this years challenge.  I hope its not all speed like i heard it is.  Testing is almost comlete for the end of the off season.  Il let someone else post it.  If your a bulldog lineman, help pitch in money to get Devon to go.  He's having some problems and we can always help.  I think Brian is giving him a ride....

SPARQ Hurdles not unbreakable

Posted By: Shane Thompson on 2008-05-07 08:39:19 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (0)

Coach Pendolino has always preached to us that the SPARQ hurdles wouldnt break if you stepped on them because they were flexible and would bend, but not break.  This theory has been proven wrong in the case of a 300 pound lineman stepping on them.  I broke one working with Coach Schwanzy yesterday.  I think COach will appreciate his souveniour im bringing him today!!

Matt Knapp Crushes Everyone With A 450 Pound Squat.

Posted By: Shane Thompson on 2008-04-10 08:38:15 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (3)

Matt Knapp wins in a landslide, getting 450 pounds (or more, cant remember if he hit that 460 or not....) on his squat.  The closest compettition was Anthony Laicona with 415, then we have to drop all the way down to Jarrod Kilburn at 335 to get another one of us.  Zach Stack and Devon Boyda both squated 315( in most cases Zach would have squated at least 400, but he has been out with a leg injury for a long time and hasnt squated in months). I came in 6th with 295 pounds, even though i think i probably could have done 300, coach wouldnt let me try.  Aaron led all under classmen with 275 pounds.  Tommorow is bench and we can expect another strong preformance from Zach,Matt, Anthony, Devon, Jarrod, Brian and I.  Zach will more than likely win it all, having benched 300 pounds last year.  Im hoping to get 225( my workout weight is about 185 depending on my grip, wide grip is probably about 175).  Jarrod is a surprising strong kid, being our Quarterback and all.  The thing about Jarrod though is he is at about his max.  If he gets much stronger, if he builds more muscle, he will become muscle bnound and will lose his flexibility. Us linemen who are pushing less then him will more than likely pass him up before it is all said and done. Jarrod was the only player who wasnt a senior to be in the top five.  The only underclassmen in the top ten was( I do believe, dont quate me, there might have been someone else) Nick Newburt.  I am the seccond strongest 10th grader.  Look for bench press results sometime this weekend!!!!

Side note:  You may be wondering where the heck Brian Armour is.  If the guy did 205 for cleans, why isnt he mentioned on squat?  The reason i didnt mention him for squats is because he didnt squat.  He has a minor knee injury that he didnt want to risk hurting worse by putting a bunch of weight on it.

Error on Cleans report

Posted By: Shane Thompson on 2008-04-10 08:18:16 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (0)

Yesterday i reported the results of our teams Hang Clean test and confused two fo my teammates weights.  I said Brian Armour cleaned 215 and Anthony Laicona Cleaned 205.  In reality, it was the other way around.  Yesterday I checked the board and it said that Anthony Cleaned 215 and Brian cleaned 205.

Waiting to get outside

Posted By: Shane Thompson on 2008-04-09 08:47:32 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (0)

I just cant wait to get outside and start working on my technique.  Our team looks really good and i want to be able to help them as much as I can.  technicaly, we dont start practice until two-a-days on August 11.   But starting near the end of the month we will be running plays and getting our technique down.  We have been lifting for about 3 months and i think its time we get outside and start finetuning our ability.  WE need to start getting into shape, running some SPRARQ stuff, start doing plays on offense, and start getting the young ones used to our4-4 deffense.  HOpefuly, if we master our blitzes a little better this year, we can run them more.  There arent as many questions about the lineup this year so we know who is starting.  The only difference is the rotation of defensive tackles so that were fresh( Matt and Zack will start, but I will rotate in after a few plays to keep them fresh.  There is also the possibility if i dont preform for someone else to do the rotations, but there deffinetly will be a rotation).  I am very excited because with my work in the weight room, i have earned my self a role in the success of our team( havent been told anything deffinite, but a little birdie told me this is what coach Pendolino is thinking.... I trust that birdie...)

Team Leader for Cleans is Devon Boyda

Posted By: Shane Thompson on 2008-04-09 08:34:28 ESTEmail Story  |  Flag As Spam  |  Comments (3)

Devon cleaned 235 to be the team leader for hang cleans.  Other notables are Matt Knap and Anthony Laicona at 205, Brian Armour at 215, Jarrod Kilburn at 185( NOt bad for a QB eh?), Zach Stack at 185(not bad for his first time cleaning since breaking his leg) and me at a puny 175(At the beggining of the month i was cleaning with a ten on each side so i cant really complain...)  The leading Freshman was Nick Newburt with 175.  I hope some of this kids raise the bar so we can compete my senior season!!!  Lifting is obviously under way, and we hope we can get a head start for next season!!! Today we are testing squats, Friday is bench!!!  Expected leaders are of course D.Boyda, but alsoAnthony, Matt, Brian, and Jarrod.  Under most circumstances Zach would be on obvious favorite, but he has only squated once in like 3 months because of his brooken leg.  Brians squat will be slightly lowered because of a minor knee injury.  Bench, the obvious favorite is Zach, who killed 300 pounds last year, but his bench has been slightly comprimised because he hasnt been able to dig in for extra power.  Anthony and Matt will probably be close to 300, but Devon is kind of weak in this department.  Red( Jarrod) has a pretty good bench, out benching a few of his lineman( me foir starters.... really pisses me off...)  For JV guys, i think Newburt will win the squat, but a beasty 8th grader, Aaron(dont know his last name... nobody does) will probably win the bench.  I know he will be playing for the Freshman team next year, but he is still very strong. He may also win the squat!!! I will probably be slightly above the middle, but a bit behind the leaders. I will be happy with a 250 squat and a 200 bench.  WE will be testing for the 40 yard dash, 100 yard dash, vertical leap, and pro agility later this month and i will update my list of max's on my site.
