| Hells yes I'm so excited! I've been working my bum off all summer and now I get to test it out! I intend to train with the girls in the morning and train with the guys at the evening session. The guy I train with says I ought to work with the girls cause I am a girl (lame excuse I say) and the girls get pissed because I do it. Which is ridiculous cause they don't give a crap otherwise. Ah well I'll just do it the way I planned! I'm so excited!!!!!! So the guy that puts on this camp is Mike Stebbins. He was my orthodontist and he's a soccer enthusiast. Every year he hires college and/or professional coaches to come and work with us. It also lets people see us seniors. Which is great because no one would come here otherwise! I bought myself some new soccer socks today! They are orange, blue, and yellow! They are kind of tight on my calves though... darn muscles lolololol Ah well they'll work. Anyways I'll update. CHEERIO! |

Hey.
This summer I took the ACT's and SAT's. I received okay scores; standardized testing is not my strong point. I have been working very hard this summer on my fitness and soccer skills. I've been training by myself, with my school, and with a trainer. My weekly workouts are generally like the one listed below with a few exceptions. Also I will be participating in Flathead Soccer Camp July 21 through August 1.
*Ab workout of 600-750 reps every day
Sunday -9am: run (30 min- hour) Monday -7am: workout at FHS (I lift with all guys and then I go run sprints with guys. Great fun since I love competition.) -1pm: juggling/first touch Tuesday -7am: FHS workout (plyos, lifting, sprints) -12pm: passing -6pm: Soccer scrimmage with teammates Wednesday -train with Marcus (trainer for soccer...) -8am: run (30min-hour) 7pm: shooting Thursday -7am: FHS workout (same as Monday but different lifts) -12pm: dribbling -6pm: Scrimmage with teammates Friday -9am: run (30-60mins) -3pm: work on all elements of soccer (juggling, first touch, passing, etc....) Saturday -9am: upper body workout
My fitness base is pretty good at the moment and I am working on my long distance endurance. I ran an hour today and I felt pretty good. I'm working on lengthening my strides to cover more ground. Soccer wise I'm improving quite quickly. I'm taking people on and usually succeeding, my shots are more accurate and stronger, my first touch is always within a yard (and improving), and my passing is quite accurate most of the time. One aspect I'm working on is my heading. I'm not afraid of the ball or anything, but I'm having issues getting to higher balls. Therefore I am working on my vertical jump which I hope to get in the twenties within 6 wks. At lifting I am squating 225 lbs, max benching 105 lbs, I can now actually do a pull up (I'm proud of that lol), and my other exercises are in top form. Since I'm almost always the only girl at the school workout I end up pushing myself to be stronger, better, and faster. I'm not going to let those guys think that they can beat me. Sprints wise I'm usually in the last four. But being in the last four means I'm running 100meters in about 12-14 seconds. We lift and then we go to the track. I run to the track and everyone else drives lol It's about half a mile to the track. At the track last week we ran four 200meters with 30 seconds of rest in between. Next we ran eight 100m sprints with a rest time of 45sec-min. Afterwards I jog back to the school and stretch.
When I train with Marcus we work on different aspects each time and I work on it throughout the wk. Because it is expensive I usually only train with him once a week. Each session we choose an aspect to focus on. Last week it was receiving the ball across your body and taking a touch and shot or shooting one touch. We did that with bouncing balls, half volleys, and volleys. The week before last we worked on kicking bending kick with the inside, top, and outside of each foot. Those are a couple of examples of what we do each session. |

It was an excellent game! This game exemplified the beautiful game perfectly. I haven't seen a game this good for ages! Ninety minutes (plus stoppage of course) of possession, shots, headers, fighting for the ball, giving everything you have action. If you have not seen this game I suggest you visit youtube or find it elsewhere. It was totally worth it. A quote with a tweak: Football is a simple game really; 22 men chase the ball for ninety minutes and in the end, the Spanish win! :D
the original quote is: "football is a simple game; 22 men chase the ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win," Gary Lineker |

Just a note. While my team is considered u-18 we have girls from the ages of 15-18. First game was against the Bozeman Avalanche's. They are an okay team. We beat them 3-1. I played goalie the first half and I wasn't scored on. I also made some good saves. I'm pretty happy about it considering I'm suppose to be back up keeper and I haven't played keeper since well basically last spring season. The second half I played defensive mid in our 3-5-2 formation. My role was to own the central area of the field infront of the central defender and give good distributive passes from the back. I did fairly well considering I haven't played with people since the school season and I didn't get the chance to play indoor. The second game was against a top team in our division. We played the U-18 Missoula Strikers. I played keeper the entire game. The Strikers scored twice in the first 20 minutes with high, powerful kicks. The first one was well hit and the second was just over my hands. They didn't score anymore in the rest of the first half. The next half I ended up playing keeper again because I am more aggressive than our other keeper. After about 20 minutes in they scored. I was well positioned, but when I pushed off the ground to dive my foot slipped in the hole of dirt. With 20 minutes to go we fought hard but the girls were tired. I made an awesome save with about 10 minutes to go. The girl was on the top of the penalty box about to kick to so I slide in and grabbed the ball. She kicked my hand and it didn't feel the greatest, but I saved it! lol Soon afterwards the game ended. We lost 3-0 but I wasn't too bummed out. I absolutely HATE to lose, but considering we had only practised together 5 times, I wasn't expecting to win. The fields were absolutely awful, the weather was extremely windy, and I had a great time. |
