Roundup: Some familiar faces advance to Super Six

This Saturday’s Super Six European football championship tripleheader will have a familiar look, at least at the top, after unbeaten Ramstein and Heidelberg claimed the Division I slots, Ansbach and Bitburg grabbed the D-II berths, and Menwith Hill and Alconbury won the right to play for the D-III crown with Saturday semifinal victories.

Division I

Heidelberg 36, Vilseck 12: At Heidelberg, Thomas Hogue rushed 27 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns for the defending D-I champions. He also kicked four extra points and ran for a two-point conversion as the Lions (6-1) rolled.

Heidelberg rushed for 323 yards in a game it led 22-6 at halftime. Vilseck’s Angelo Anderson returned the second-half kickoff 95 yards for a TD, but Heidelberg countered with a scoring drive to re-establish its edge.

Heidelberg quarterback Jimmy Montfleury ran for TDs of 1 and 12 yards and threw a TD pass of 24 yards to Napolian Myhand.

The Lions’ defense victimized Vilseck (4-3) for three turnovers — interceptions by Devin Helvie and Jacobi Satsatin and a fumble recovery by Darius Dixon. Myhand had eight tackles for the Lions, two for losses, and Wayne Dawkins included two tackles for losses and a sack among his six stops. Devin Jackson forced a fumble and made seven tackles.

Vilseck’s first-half TD came on a 1-yard plunge by quarterback Tyler Hall.
