| I would have to say that I had one of my best meets in a long time this past week/weekend. The MegaZone Championships started out for me on Wednesday morning with the Open Water event. This was my first time swimming open water and let alone a 2 mile race. I ended up 5th in my age group with a time of 38:43.26. Later that evening I got to participate in the 400m Medley A Relay for IIllinois. I anchored with freestyle and helped our relay come in 9th place. Thursday morning I swam the 800m free with a best time of 9:25.72 and ended up finishing 8th. I aslo swam the 100m free with a time of 1:00.72 placing me 3rd going into finals. Thursday night at finals I swam the 100m free and finished 1st with a best time of 59.58. On Friday morning I swam the 200 I.M. in the prelims and got a best time of 2:27.92 cutting off about 4 sec. which placed me 2nd going into finals. A while after that I swam the 400m free with a best time of 4:35.82 cutting nearly 3 sec. off my old time placing me 8th going into finals. After that I got to swim on the Illinois A 200 free relay leading off with a split of 28.28. Friday night at finals I got another best time in the 200m IM of 2:26.75 which placed me 2nd overall. The 400m free was shortly after that and I came in with a best time of 4:34.48 placing 5th. Saturday morning I got to swim the 200m free and achieved a best time of 2:10.63 placing me 4th going into the finals. Saturday night at finals I became the 2008 MegaZone champion in my second event. I split 30.17, 32.80, 34.10, 32.04 giving me a new best time of 2:09.11. On Sunday my final day of swimming I swam the 50m free and the 200m Medley Relay in prelims. I some how went exactly my best time of 27.95 placing me 3rd going into finals. That night however I achieved my best time of 27.77 giving me 6th overall. The meet finally ended with me tying for 1st place high point and Team Illinois winning the meet. Overall I would have to say that it was my best meet in awhile...until High School State. =) |
