The Olathe Rockets will be playing in the Kansas USSSA 16A State Tournament this coming weekend. Our first game will be Friday night at 5:30pm, against the Wichita Mustangs. We have yet to face the Mustangs but I know that they will be a challenge! I'm looking forward to meeting that challenge, it's always good to play the best competition around. The tournament format is straight double elimination, with a 3 game guarantee.
The tournament will be July 11-13 at the Mid-America West Sports Complex/Mid-America Sports Complex, in Shawnee, KS.

ok here's the update:
Rockets VS Mustangs... We gave up 2 runs in the first; both "unearned", then we came back with 2, and they got 1 more. The game was called by time. I had 2 walks with both my at bats and made all my plays in the field. I would have been the next batter up if we hadn't run out of time. Loss Rockets-2 Mustangs-3
Rockets VS KS Renegades... This game was one of thoes really good games. they had us 1-0 until our final chance of the last inning. Megan who plays Catcher got a base hit, then a sac bunt by Chelsey (SS) moved her to second. I took a walk... Then a "sac fly" by Kaley (P-Util) moved her to 3rd, (I had to stay at 1st since the fly was to right field). Then Mariah (3B) hit a double in the R-Cntr gap.. I scored the winning run from 1st base sliding in home, with a play at the plate!! Win Rockets 2 Renegades-1
FINAL UPDATE:
Rockets VS Wichita Stingers...The Rockets scored a run in the third inning when I reach on an error to right field and Stortzum singled to right center and I scored from first. They we added another run in the fifth inning when Jokisch reached on an error. She advanced to third on a single by Parr, and advanced to home on a wild pitch. Thimmesch came in for relief in the fifth inning. The Stingers scored 1 run on 3 hits, as Fox snagged a line drive and stepped on second for the final two outs of the game.

Rockets VS KS Renegades... The Rockets faced the Renegades for the second time on Sunday afternoon. Thimmesch took the circle for the Rockets. The Renegades scored 1 run in the third inning on 3 hits. The Rockets stranded 5 runners but failed to plate any runs. The Renegades got hot in the fifth inning scoring a 3-run homer. White came in for relief to close out the inning. That would be the final as the Rockets were eliminated with the 5-0 loss. I went 2 for 3 against the Renegades but could not score. :-(
