On July 18 - July 29th I will be in Holland participating in the International Youth Friendship Games. I was nominated for the People To People Sports Ambassadors Program by my recent club coach, Eno Obot(Rockford Sirens Soccer Club). After I received the letter that told me I had been nominated, I had to go to an information meeting and later went through an interview process. There were several athletes that applied or were nominated, but you had to go through an interview to be accepted or not. I was chosen to go on this life changing opportunity. After being accepted, I went to three information meetings that helped me to become more familiar with the program. At one of the meetings the director began telling the group that we could receive collage credits for going if we write in a journal. I will be taking advantage of this opportunity while I'm in Holland. When I get to Holland I will have three days of practice, so the coaches can figure out what the teams will be.I will not only be playing soccer there everyday, but I will also get to do alot of site-seeing there. I will be visiting a wooden shoe factory, taking a bike tour, and will be seeing where Anne Frank and her family hid during the Holocaust. Throughout the other seven days I will be playing in what is very similar to the Olympics. My team will be playing several other countries from all over the world competing for a championship trophy. This will not only be a wonderful sports opportunity, but an educational and cultural learning experience.
