We made history on Wednesday, when we beat Palmerston North BHS. (Actually we hardly made history, but did something which hadn't been done since 1997)
We won all 3 of college fixtures, this year-2008. Here is a little description on each of those games.

@ Auckland Grammar-Win 18 points

We were quite unsure of what this AGS Team were going to be like. Last year they came and played in New Plymouth, where we went down by 10 points. Back then they had 2 twins(Both about 6"8), who had a good 4 inches on anyone in our team. Let's just say we got killed on the boards. But they weren't playing this year, as they had both left school and were playing in the National Basketball League. We got off to a good start, and never looked back. We were always up by 20 or so, with Auckland never threatening to mount a come back. Offensively, our whole team played poorly, and we must have shot below 35 % from the Field. I only had 8 points in the win, and had a bad shooting night. However, I just focused on what i did wrong, and looked to continue to work on those 'weaknesses' in practice.

vs Hamilton BHS-Win by 27 points

Hamilton, once again, were a fairly solid team last year. This year however, the team was young and relatively unexperienced. We played our basketball at our tempo. It worked too. We built a large lead, and once again never looked back. Offensively, we were much more co-herent and shot a better %. I finished with 12 points(6/6 from the FT Line). Defensively, we were magnificent. We worked great defending the on-ball screens, hedging and recovering. This allowed the ball-handler no room. He couldn't turn the corner and had very little time to pull up for his jumpshot. This was a team effort, and it was good to see guys like Wade and Phill(who usually don't get much time in college games) get some good court time. They brang the intensity too.

vs Palmerston North-Win by 2 points

Palmerston North are very tough opponents. Last year they finished 4th at Nationals, and bet us by 15 points(in the college match), then blowed-us out by 25 or so points (at Super 8). We were playing at home, and we knew we could snatch a win. Neither team really knew if they were the favourites to win. I spose we were even; no team was underdog nor favourite. They brang the intensity, which was lacking in the efforts of Hamilton BHS and AGS. PNBHS jumped out to an early 7 points lead, and in the final 3 mins of the 1st quarter, we pulled it back to within 3. The game went tit for tat for the last 3 quarters, right down to the last buzzer(hint hint). The turning point of the game came when Tia(Palmerston North's star player), got his 4th foul in the 3rd quarter. Overall, their whole team was in foul trouble, so we took it at them. Offensively, i had struggled in the 1st half, scoring just 7 points. However, some great penetration from Harley and Jared gave me the space and time to hit some crucial outside shots. When they fouled us, we went to the FT Line and coverted(something which we had struggled with collectively). With 9.9 seconds on the clock and the game tied, we inbounded. The play broked down, so i received the reverse pass from Harley, penetrated and kicked to Jared in the corner. I put the ultimate trust in Jared that he would hit that shot and he did. We ended up winning 70-68
I finished the game with 27 points (8/8 FT, 2/4 3-Point FG)

Over the 3 intercollege games, i averaged 15.6 points.

After the game, the whole team was shocked to relise we had done something which had not been done since 1997.
