My Volleyball Career So Far...

I have been in love with volleyball since i was 12 years old. I was really bad starting out, so I went to the Tulane individual summer camp before the 04-05 school year. The school I played for in New Orleans, my original hometown, was Isidore Newman School. They won state championships almost every year, and my 8th grade year they produced the Gatorade Player of the Year, Elena Martinez.  They also were the first to show me the meaning of hard work. Because of my love for the sport and my potential for skill, I was pressed to play club ball but I could not pursue it due to financial problems. My dream was to play for Cajunland.

After making the freshman volleyball team at Newman, Hurricane Katrina hit and I was relocated to Carlton J. Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. They had already held tryouts and because of my lack of a physical, I was stuck practicing with the JV team but could not play. The summer before my sophomore year, I was invited to attend the UGA team camp with the varsity team. I eventually made the varsity team after tryouts and started the season as second middle hitter/blocker. I was even mentioned by the Marietta Daily as a notable newcomer. Because of my vision problems, I sat out some of the second half of my season.

The summer after sophomore year, I was relocated again, this time, to North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia. I went to the Tennessee Team Camp with their varsity team and started as a outside but eventually moved back to middle. I started the whole season as a first middle for the Lady Warriors. I had the 42nd most kills in the state of Georgia, and was a big help for the North Cobb volleyball team.

After this year's season, I finally convinced my family to let me play club volleyball for the Atlanta Boom Volleyball Institute. At tryouts, I made their 17-1 team. A week later, I was moved to the 18-1 team as an outside hitter, but because of vision problems it did not go so well in pre-season practices. I was then moved to the 17-2 team because my coaches thought it would be better for me. The season was going well, but during the Big South tournament, I injured my soft tissue and am still waiting to hear from an orthopedic surgeon.

My love for volleyball has grown over the years. I think I have the potential and the skill to be a great and noteable college player. I have learned a lot of court smarts and skill over the years and I believe I can be a good edition to a decent college team.

Over the six years that I have been playing, every year seem
