I'm a very diverse person. I come from a very diverse background. I won't quite say how, for fear of offending anyone. But, those of you who know me know what I'm talking about. Both sides of my family are VERY different. I love basketball, and yet I almost despise men's basketball. I love rap music and rock music. I wear vans, BT's, World Industries, Zoo Yorks, Nike's, Adidas, and yet I'm still described as diffeent. I wonder why- and yet I still know why in a strange way. Here are some quotes that describe my outlook on life, academics and sports:
"Adversity cause some men to break; others to break records." - William A. Ward
Dr. James Naismith: "The invention of basketball was not an accident. It was developed to meet a need. Those boys simply would not play "Drop the Handkerchief."
Charles Shackleford: "Left hand, right hand, it doesn't matter. I'm amphibious."
Charles Barkley: "I don't believe professional athletes should be role models. I believe parents should be role models.... It's not like it was when I was growing up. My mom and my grandmother told me how it was going to be. If I didn't like it, they said, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." Parents have to take better control."
Isiah Thomas: "If all I'm remembered for is being a good basketball player, then I've done a bad job with the rest of my life." Doc Rivers: "Winning is like deodorant - it comes up and a lot of things don't stink."
Wilt Chamberlain: "They say that nobody is perfect. Then they tell you practice makes perfect. I wish they'd make up their minds."
Justice Earl Warren: "I always turn to the sports section first. The sports page records people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures."
Rita Rudner: "Men forget everything, women remember everything. That's why men need instant replay in sports. They've already forgotten what happened."
Emil Zatopek: "An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head."
