The South squad took advantage of five errors as it defeated the North 11-5 in the BCAA Senior All-Star Baseball Classic at Nova High on Wednesday night.
The North scored two runs in the opening inning on a two-base throwing error, and did so again in the third on a home run by Coral Springs' T.J. Clarkson. Clarkson, 2 for 2 with a walk, was named the North MVP.
The South retaliated with four runs in the third, including a two-RBI double by Pembroke Pines Charter's Anthony Bondarenko. Bondarenko also walked and scored a run to be named South MVP.
The South extended its lead in the fourth and fifth innings with home runs from Tommy Padro (Everglades) and Marc Lau (Cooper City), and scored on several errors to go up 9-3.
Leo Suarez (Everglades), Matt Bledsoe (South Plantation), James Sanchez (Miramar), Zach Bunting (Cooper City) and Bondarenko each threw a scoreless inning of relief for the South.
