Lyric Hupp has been selected to play for the NAST (North American Select Team) in 2009; a select women’s fastpitch softball team who prides itself in representing our continent with great athletes as well as great people.  Hupp, who will be a freshman at Lee’s Summit High School in the fall of 2008, has been named to the North American Select Team, which is slated to represent North America at the “Cup 2009”, scheduled in January in Schiedam, Netherlands. Chad Mays, the associate director of the North American Select Team said more than 100,000 athletes were considered for the team. Teams from North America have won 6 of the last 15 Cup tournaments. Each year national teams from other countries participate in this event. They include France, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Germany, Swiss, Belgium, Netherlands, Dutch National Olympic team and Russia. This is a great honor to be named to the NAST. Lyric will be representing the USA and North America at one of the highest levels. We are very excited that Lyric has been named to the NAST 2009 Cup team. Lyric is the youngest athlete ever to be named to the North American squad. She turns 15 over Memorial Day weekend!  Lyric is currently playing with the Olathe Express 18U team coached by Dan Akin (KC Peppers) and Stan Spurling (16U Olathe Rockets). She wil return to her summer team (Olathe Rockets) over Memorial Day weekend. Lyric plays 2nd base and outfield. She is also the cousin of Alex Hupp (pitcher for Nebraska) and Michaela Hupp (pitcher at Olathe East High school).  For more information regarding the NAST “Cup 09” team please feel free to contact: Kirt E.
