Level of Competition

This weekend I am playing a zone tournament.  It's a one day tournament but goes Saturday and Sunday playing on 2 different golf courses. It is vital to place in the top 20 in this tournament (60 players 1 division) after the first day because the placing establishes your tee-time for the next and the order of merit  standings. I play the blue tees in this tournament which are roughly in the range of 6300-6500 yards.

Later on in May the tournaments will have the tees backed up to the tips (6800-7000 yards). This will most likely happen when the weather is warmer. So far in the first tournament of this zone I managed to place in the top 20.  I shot a 78 (par 72) which is a little over my handicap (5). I managed to squeak in the top 20. This zone is very competitive with the top 3 players usually shooting under par. There is always a small group of guys at even or a couple over par.

I am thrilled to be playing in a competitive tour such as this one because my golf game can improve faster. I am able to strive with the intense competition and the pressure.
