During the indoor track season as a sophomore i reached my goal of breaking the sophomore school mile record with a time of 4:51. I got a PR of 2:09 in the 4 by 800 relay run, which was a part of a school record. Everything appeared to be going well, until the very end of the season in a championship meet. The day before i struggled through practice with severe pain in my left knee. That day i was diagnosed with ITB Syndrome which is common in distance runners. The meet the following day was so important to me i decided to run anyways, which was a bad choice. I ran a 4:54 mile. The knee slowed me up and caused severe pain. Our team had to miss the 4 by 800 because of my injury. Since then i have had about a month off of running and have worked hard at practice and meets doing different things for my coaches that are needed. It has been very hard to see my teamates run, as i have been just dying to get on the track. Finally about two weeks ago i got the greenlight to pick up my training again. I have ran intensely the last week to get back into top shape so i can best my indoor times for the spring. Next week i will be back running my races even though there is only two dual meets left in the season. I am hoping the recent training i have done and the training i will do over the next few weeks will propel me to take part in the post season meets following the regular season. My goal is to reach a 4:45 mile by then. I would also like a 2:07 800m. I have recently sighned up for the massachusetts bay state games this summer, and hopefully can do fairly well in that.
