I love soccer, and I love track. I hate it when they interfere with each other. As I look out at the week I have a head of me, I see quite a lot of conflict. I have to run a Middle School meet today, go to the store to purchase a good pair of spikes, then make it back here for a 6:30 soccer practice. Tuesday, I have a meet so I'll probably miss practice. Wednesday I have track until 5 then soccer at 6. Thursday and Friday I have meets, so I'll have to miss soccer again. It's so great when I talk to my coaches, because my distance coach Knutsen says missing track for anything not related to distance running is a waste of his time and we have no place on his team. My soccer coach Pecarina feels like since soccer is my main sport it seems ridiculous to even consider missing soccer for track. The bottom line is though I am dedicated to soccer and wish to gain a scholarship for it, it isn't soccer season. It's track season. Anyway, I think I'm running the mile for all three meets this week, and I'm going for a time of 5:15. If I can get that as a freshman, I'll be able to run a solid sub-5 next year. My last meet I ran a 5:30 on an ankle injury that had me out for a couple of weeks. It's still a bit off, so I hope it won't affect me too much. I want the mental edge, the physical edge, just the basic dominant advantage over my opponent. Wish me luck.
