The Chicago Sky congratulates the Crete-Monee High School girls varsity basketball team as its seventh “High School Team of the Week.” The Warriors demonstrate commitment to the game and to improving their team. With first-year coach Mike Pope, the Warriors have gone from a dismal 4-17 season last year to 11-10, including an impressive run since January 1. There are seven girls on the Warrior roster, six upperclassmen and one sophomore, and they have committed themselves to the hard work required to turn a basketball program around. In his nomination, Coach Pope said that he is extremely impressed with the girls’ efforts and that the team has “come a LONG way this year.” He also thought his players would learn a lot from seeing a Sky game.
The Sky wishes the Crete-Monee High School Warriors the best of luck as they finish up the regular season.
