Well, I guess I'll be blogging on here now, so that I can see how far I've come, and so that all the college coaches will also be able to track my progress too.

I just finished my fall season by going to the Gator Invitational at UF. I love the camous there, it's really nice and I like all the "hustle and bustle" around the town. But now for the swimming. My first swim was my 200 Free. This was the race where I should have been getting a very good time, but unfortunately I got news that one of the kids at my school had been hospitalized, put in a coma, and died, which messed me up alot psychologically and physically. I won't use this tragedy as all of the reason for me going slow. I missed about four turns and did atrocious. I was so mad at myself. This is what I had been training for and I blew it. Next I had the 100 Fly. This is kind of an off event for me, but I knew if I used my incredible dolphin kick I could do awesome. I ended up going a 58. something. I was extatic, not bad for a first try eh? Later that night I swam the fly leg of the 4X100 Medley Relay. I ended up going a 56 low from a relay start. My day was so much better because of this, and I decided that I would give every single amount of energy I had into all my swims. I realized that day that I had to live every day like it was my last, and appreciate and take the opportunity that I was alive and could still be on Earth.

The next day started off very well. I had three events this day, and two were my signature ones. First was one of my specialties, the 200 IM. I used my new confidence in my fly to break away from th pack from the start. I ended up splitting a 26 for the fly. Then I got into the backstroke, where I usually dominate and pull forward more. At this point in my race I'm not even tired. I'm so used to working to my limit in practice that I'm mentally an physically on top. I once again used my underwaters to my advantage and emerged right before the 15 meter mark. I went into my breastroke. This is my weakes stroke. I knew I couldn't let my tempo slow down or else I would  lose ground. I tried to use my turns and pullouts to my advantage. I think that really helps me because I try and focus on the details of my swims to gain a few extra yards, where other people lose them. honestly, after my breaststroke I was VERY tired. I went into the free and for some reason I thought I was someone else. My legs were moving like pistons and my arms were going so fast and pulling so hard my heart felt like it was going to explode. I reached for the wall and looked at the scoreboard. Best time. Defnitely worth the pain.

After this, I had the 50 Free. Not exactly my event. It was over so quickly that I barely remember it. All I know is that I swam it aggressively.

After this I had the highly anticipated 100 Backstroke.  I tried to use my start, turns, and underwaters to my advantage and ened up getting a best time. Everyone told me I almost always get DQ'ed because my underwaters bring me so close to that 15 meter mark. Anyway, I was happy with my best time. I didnt make finals unfortunately but I was still happy. I warmed down and again, felt thankful to be blessed for 3 best times that day and for simply being there.

The next day I had the 200 Back (my best event) and the 100 Free. On my 200 Back I dont even remember it. I was in some sort of zone. I nailed every wall and tried to focus on really working the third fifty. I ended up going a best time, but only shaved off a few hundreths. I was very dissapointed in my self, but stayed determined to not let it get to me in my 100 Free. In my 100 Free, I went all out. I breathed only 8 times and ended up winning my heat. I once again got a best time thanks to my hard work (and my new fastskin which is totally awesome!). I was so happy to be able to end the meet on a good swim. After that we packed up and went home.

Sorry if my blogs were too long. I'm kind of a perfectionist/OCD freak so I had to do a play by play.

Looking forward to the next one!
